How to fund your account

Find out how to add euros, pounds or US dollars to your Expat Bank Account or Saver Account.

Get your account up and running

If you've just opened an Expat Bank or Saver Account you'll need to add some funds. (Make sure you do this within 90 days to meet your minimum balance and avoid any charges).

If you're not already set up, register for digital banking to transfer money, manage your accounts and monitor your payments on the go.

Transfer funds from your HSBC accounts

Link your accounts with Global View

If you're transferring money between your international HSBC accounts, it's easiest to use Global View. Here's how to link your accounts so you can move money between them online. (To use Global View you'll need to be registered for digital banking).

  1. Log on and select 'Global View' in 'My Banking'
  2. Choose 'Link my international accounts'
  3. Select the country/region to link to
  4. Enter your log on details for that country/region
  5. Accept our 'Terms and conditions'
  6. See your linked accounts in 'Account overview'

Other ways to fund your account

Depending on the payment type, account type and currency, you'll need to provide certain information about your account.

Here are some details you might need and where to find them:

  • Sort code - Online and mobile banking
  • Account number - Online and mobile banking
  • IBAN - In mobile banking, select the account and swipe down on the most recent transactions list. In online banking, select the account and then ‘View more details'
  • BIC / SWIFT code - In mobile banking, select the account and swipe down on the most recent transactions list. In online banking, select the account and then ‘View more details'
